End of the Oligarchy
I like to fantasize that all society is on the cusp of a new renaissance. A point in history where humanity as a whole, takes full measure of our marvellous past achievements, and decides to put them all to good use. The path is paved with our mistakes and missteps.
The economic disaster is a chance to experience rebirth. We can start from the bottom up, we can chose the most logical choice or face the consequences. It must be understood that the natural and increasingly rapid death of ‘Intellectual Property’ is happening. Intellectual Freedom is the new era. Ideas will no longer be profitable, and therefore, no longer exploitable.
Currency is failing. A flawed system can only function effectively for a short time. We keep patching, amending our economic policy, refusing to accept that the model must be changed. The rich, and their heirs, continue to control a vast majority of our country’s wealth and power. Knowledge is dispensed to those who can afford it, excusing a few exceptions.
It’s inevitable that soon, knowledge will be freed up for the rest of us. All ideas will be expressed, launched into universal consciousness, and processed by anyone who seeks them out. Art will advance at an incredible rate. Literature, poetry, music and iconography will be public property. We’ll be able to leave our front doors unlocked once again. This is the future.
On a lighter note, the oil change place across the street from me has a giant Frankenstein monster inflated in front of it. The arms are spread, ostensibly to invite new customers to c’mon in, and sit a spell.
The cross street 10 feet east is named “Gravenstein” and I don’t think it’s a coincidence.
